October 11th is National Coming Out Day—a day dedicated to honoring the courage it takes for LGBTQ+ individuals to live openly and authentically. For many, coming out is a powerful milestone, but it can also be a moment met with fear, uncertainty, or risk of rejection.

At Just Living Recovery, we understand that the journey toward self-acceptance is deeply connected to the journey toward healing. Too often, LGBTQ+ individuals face higher rates of discrimination, trauma, and isolation—factors that can contribute to substance use and mental health struggles. That’s why our commitment to the LGBTQ+ community is not just a statement, but a central part of who we are.

Creating Safe and Affirming Spaces

Recovery thrives in environments where people feel seen, heard, and valued for who they truly are. Just Living Recovery provides:

  • Inclusive Housing: Welcoming residents of all gender identities and sexual orientations without judgment.

  • Affirming Programs: Integrating education and support for LGBTQ+ issues into our recovery model.

  • Peer Support: Encouraging mentorship and connection among residents to foster understanding and solidarity.

Why Representation Matters

When residents see themselves reflected in leadership, staff, and fellow peers, it reinforces the message: You belong here. At Just Living Recovery, we strive to ensure that LGBTQ+ voices are not just included—they are celebrated.

Standing with the LGBTQ+ Community Every Day

National Coming Out Day is a reminder that living authentically is a courageous act. We honor and support every individual’s personal timeline for coming out, recognizing that it is a deeply personal decision. Our role is to stand beside our residents, offering understanding, resources, and community, every step of the way.

Our Commitment in Action

  • Providing trauma-informed care that addresses the unique experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals.

  • Partnering with local and national LGBTQ+ organizations to expand access to resources.

  • Advocating for policies that protect and uplift LGBTQ+ people in recovery.

At Just Living Recovery, we believe that recovery and authenticity go hand-in-hand. We celebrate the courage of those who choose to share their truth and offer unwavering support to those still finding their voice.

On National Coming Out Day—and every day—we stand proudly with the LGBTQ+ community, committed to building a world where no one has to choose between their identity and their recovery.

Because living your truth should never mean walking alone.
